Track and bridge technology / Safety and guiding device

Guide rails are used in particularly critical areas as derailment protection to prevent major damage to adjacent structures (such as bridges). For this purpose, another standard rail is attached to the sleeper next to the running rail as a guide rail. This creates a guide groove which ensures that the train is kept on track in a controlled manner. In this context, the safety gear serves as the inlet and outlet of the guide rail. Depending on requirements, the sleepers can be designed for a single-sided or double-sided guide rail.
